How to check the validity status of your phone in Bangladesh

In this article, we will guide you on how to check the validity status of your phone in Bangladesh, which is crucial to know, especially because the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) is considering deactivating mobile phones that are not registered in the country. It’s important to stay informed about the registration status of your phone to avoid deactivation.

Starting July 1, 2024, every customer purchasing a handset locally or bringing one from abroad needs to check its legal status before buying. It is essential to verify the handset and keep the receipt for future reference.

A Quick Guide on Verifying the Validity Status of Your Phone in Bangladesh

No need to worry! As of now, if your mobile phone is connected to the country’s network, whether from Bangladesh or another country, it will be legalized automatically. Users don’t have to take any action, and there won’t be any blocking for currently used handsets. Nevertheless, it will be necessary to understand the process of checking your phone’s validity status (BTRC Mobile Registration Check) from July 1, 2024, before making any purchases. Let’s take a look:

  • To carry out this process (BTRC Mobile Registration Check), you’ll need your IMEI Number, a 15-digit unique identifier for each device. To locate your IMEI Number, simply dial *#06#.
  • Now that you have your device’s IMEI Number, open your Messages app. Type KYD, add a space, and enter the 15-digit IMEI number.
  • Once you’ve typed the IMEI number, send it to 16002.
  • You’ll receive an immediate response message, providing you with the validity status of your own mobile handset.

Point to remember: Preserve the receipt of the purchased handset

Stay connected, stay secure, and contribute to the reliability and compliance of the mobile network in Bangladesh. Ensure your phone is registered to play your part in fostering a safer and more efficient telecommunication environment.
